To the Editor:

After going through the ordeal of having a guest become a missing person in our very rural neighborhood we are left with an overwhelming gratitude for the family and community we have here in Ettersburg.

Telegraph Ridge Fire Company volunteers, neighbors and family joined together in teams, and under the supervision of Diana Totten and fire chief Lawsky conducted a very thorough and systematic search of the area. Unfortunately we had made the mistake of calling the Sheriffs department (instead of 911) so we lost at least six hours of daylight before beginning the professional search so searchers ended up having to search in the dark, taking on further risk for themselves.

We feel fortunate to live in such a caring and compassionate community. Thank you to everyone who helped.
