The Last Donate Don’t Dump produce distribution will be happening on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Thanks to generous farmers, grocers and the State of California - food that would otherwise go to landfills is transported up here (and to many other sites around the state) once a month.

The distribution will be at the Food Pantry in Garberville (on Locust at Maple) from 10:30 a.m. to noon and then at the Baptist Church (Redway Drive across from KMUD) from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. We have received plums, melons, berries, a lot of salad greens and mixed vegetables, potatoes, pastries and breads and more. We never know until the truck arrives what is coming - but it is almost all good.

The Humboldt County Health and Human Services team will be on site in Redway to answer questions and sign people up for CalFresh - the new Food Stamps program and Food For People will have someone at the Garberville site. You might be eligible to receive more food assistance than you realized.

We thank Food For People - the Food Bank for Humboldt County, the Donate Don’t Dump program, FoodLink for driving the food up here and all the volunteers that make this program possible. These foods can help needy families in our area stretch their food budgets. If you work with a program that can help distribute the food more widely in Southern Humboldt, please contact Patti at 223-2430.
