On Sept. 11 Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Downey unveiled the Sheriff's office new patrol car color scheme. The Sheriff's office will be phasing out the white patrol car with green stripe color scheme that Humboldt County residents have come to know since they were phased into service in 1986.
Prior to 1986 Humboldt County Sheriff's office patrol cars were green with white doors.
The Sheriff's office purchased seven of the black and white 2011 Ford Crown Victorias from Alhambra Police Department, who had a surplus. These cars are to replace the older Crown Victorias the Sheriff's office currently uses as they are retired from the fleet.
All future patrol car purchases by the Humboldt County Sheriff's office will be black and white. A second black and white patrol car should be released for service in the next few weeks.
