She was born on September 15, 1946, in San Diego, CA, to Michael and Beatrice Carroll.
She married John Pogue in 1964 and settled in San Diego where they had two sons, Michael and James. They moved to Humboldt County in 1976.
Mom married Dennis Lewis in 1978 and became the loving stepmother of Andy Lane and Sara Lewis.
Mom leaves a legacy of dedication to her family and always put them above all else. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and was extremely proud of her grandchildren and her sons’ accomplishments. She loved horses, dogs and cats and always enjoyed spoiling them.
Mom was a very accomplished cosmetologist, artist and wood worker. She leaves her family with many beautiful paintings, toys and dollhouses made lovingly for each person with her caring hands. Mom was a very hard worker her whole life. She owned businesses for many years as well as worked at the Drive Thru Tree and the Grandfather Tree gift shops. She sold many of her hand made art works at the local gift shops and in the most recent years on her own online business, Kettenpom Creations. Mom also gave many hours to the local children as a 4-H leader and baseball coach. She donated many of her beautiful creations to the local schools for the children to enjoy or for them to raffle off to help the children make money for the things they needed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Beatrice Carroll; brother, Ludger Jewells Carroll; in-laws, Arthur and Alice Lewis; sister and brothers in-law, Ted and Lyla Annibel and Ralph Morris; nephew, Michael Lewis; and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Driggs.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dennis Lewis; sons, Michael (Valerie) Pogue, James (Michelle) Pogue; step-son, Andy Lane; step-daughter, Sara Lewis Pigot; brother in-law, Whitley and Beverly Lewis; grandchildren, Donovan, Kaydon and Kaylee Pogue, Kyle, Travis, and Larissa Harrison, Kelsey Switzer, Brandon, Logon and Jennifer Smith, Brittney Lewis, Betsey, Kaitlin and Sabrina Lane, Shelby and Robert Driggs; great-grandchildren, Kaydon and Brodie Driggs, Keeley Smith and Makayla Burns as well as her very best friend, Mary Ann Ramos of Chicago.
At mom’s request there will be no services. However, there will be a celebration of life to be announced at a later time.
