On Monday, Aug. 6, the presiding judge for the County of Humboldt, Judge Bruce Watson, swore in supervisor-elect Rex Bohn as the newly appointed 1st district supervisor in the board of supervisors chambers of the County Courthouse in Eureka.
Supervisor-elect Bohn, on July 16, was officially appointed by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. to fill the remainder of 1st district supervisor Jimmy Smith’s term following his early retirement, effective Aug. 3.
Bohn was elected June 6 to the 1st district supervisorial seat, with his new term beginning Jan. 7. However, Smith and the board submitted a letter in June asking the governor to appoint Bohn following Smith’s final day in office. Bohn received 63.3 percent of the vote in the June primary, and the governor agreed it was appropriate that Bohn fill the remainder of Smith’s term.
