Stephen Foster Squier, age 70, passed away peacefully in his home on June 28, 2012.

Steve was born on June 2, 1942 in Middletown, Ohio and moved to southern California where he grew up hanging out with his brother at the beach and pier. He moved to Humboldt County in 1967 and called it home for 45 years.

In 1970 he opened a bookstore in Briceland and ran Floating Mountain Books for nine years. Stephen loved many things including books, nature, stamps, music, and dragsters.

Steve is survived by his beloved children, James Squier (Laurel Jewell) and Robin Downing (Bob Downing); grandchildren, Bryce Downing and Elijah Squier; nephew, Heath Squier; and nieces, Holly and Heather Squier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Hilda Squier; and his brother, Fred Squier.
