Rudy was born Dec. 1, 1956 in Eureka, CA, the son of Dale and Nadine Basquez. In 1965 the family moved to Garberville. There began Rudy’s lifelong love of the outdoors. He spent many happy hours fishing the rivers of Humboldt County. For several years he operated a drift boat service; the job he liked best.
The pride of Rudy’s life was his two sons, Myles, 27, and Brent, 24. Rudy loved to barbecue, especially if his boys were home. He created a lot of laughter and fun during those patio parties.
Rudy is survived by his mother, Nadine Basquez of Vernon, AZ; son, Myles Basquez of Orland, CA; son, Brent Basquez and wife, Crystal, of Arcata, CA; sisters, Carolyn Jordan and Sharlene Basquez; brother, Larry Basquez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
No service is planned, however, a memorial gathering will be held on July 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the home of Carolyn Jordan, 7735 Benbow Drive, Garberville, CA. Friends and family are invited to attend.
