On Friday, June 8 at around 11 a.m., a 1994 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Anita Jackson, age 25, of Laytonville was traveling southbound at an unknown rate of speed on Hwy. 101 south of Laytonville near the Shamrock Ranch.

For unknown reasons, Jackson lost control of her vehicle and traveled over the east road edge. The truck hit the embankment of a culvert trench area adjacent to the highway. Jackson was restrained in the vehicle, however the impact caused fatal injuries.

Jackson’s 2-year-old daughter, Tara Slichter, of Laytonville was in the right front passenger’s seat restrained in a child seat. She survived the collision and was flown to UC Davis Medical Center with moderate injuries.
