The Northern California Association of Nonprofits will be offering a two-part meeting leadership workshop series at the Garberville Civic Club facilitated by Mary Gelinas and Heather Equinoss of Cascadia Center for Leadership. The first session, offered on May 29, is Leading Productive Meetings: Tools for Effective Design, Facilitation and Decision Making. Participants will learn techniques to create meetings that get results, including decision making models, coming to agreement on challenging issues, how to close conversations that seem to keep going in circles, encouraging thoughtful participation and dealing with disruption. The second session, Moving Beyond a Minute at the Mic: Design and Facilitate Effective Community Meetings, will be offered on June 27 and is focused on engaging community members and stakeholders on key issues through the public meeting process. Many issues will be addressed including how to clearly define purpose and outcomes, encouraging productive small group discussions, and making meetings more collaborative and creative. The facilitators will also cover how to be a facilitative participant and techniques to manage destructive emotional contagion in high stakes conversations.
Preregistration is required and a discount is offered when you register for both workshops. The sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and include breakfast and lunch. For more information visit www.northerncalifornianonprofits.org or call Keytra at 442-2993.
