Danielle Whitmore was officially installed as the new president of Kiwanis of the Redwoods on October 14. Other officers include Vice President Brian Shapiro and Treasurer/Secretary Karen Baker.

Whitmore looks forward to expanding the club by recruiting new members, and initiating many new projects.

Kiwanis of the Redwoods currently hosts the Redwood Run, sponsors a local toy collection during the Christmas season, and maintains several bus stops in our area. Kiwanis of the Redwoods raised enough money last year to give out $9,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors going on to college from South Fork High School and Leggett High School.

Kiwanis is an international community service organization with members in 93 countries. They are people who help people and their special focus, although not their only focus, is on helping kids.

Anyone interested in joining this awesome club can contact Danielle Whitmore by email at humboldt_dani@yahoo.com or just show up at a meeting and see what goes on for yourself. Kiwanis meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Healy Senior Center in Redway on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.
