Hi! Marjo here, of the Marjo Wilson Band. I’d like to invite everybody to come on down to The Riverwood Inn in Phillipsville on Friday night, Nov. 6, -- come party with us.

We are a dance band from Covelo, down in Mendocino County.

We really enjoy playing locally, (which we fondly consider Mendocino County and Humboldt County.) We love this beautiful land that we live in and we like the idea of playing for our people -- our friends and neighbors -- across the field and in the next town, up the river and over the hill. I like to think that us “Northern California folks” need to stick together.

My husband Morten Jensen and I have been groovin’ together in this band for over 10 years. Morten plays the bass and some electric guitar too. I sing and howl and play my acoustic guitar. We are joined by our music buddies, Mario Vela on drums, Ernie Wolf on Hammond B-3, Brad Jenkins on Sax and Robin Kellerstrass backing me up with vocals and percussion. Some of the venues we’ve played include the Shanachie Pub in Willits, Northfork Cafe in Covelo, Round Valley Blackberry Festival, Benbow Summer Arts Festival, Mateel Community Center, and the Peg House in Leggett.

We play a lot of different rhythms, and enjoy a mix of a little bit of swing, Latin, funk, soul, country and a lot of what we call “Mendo Rock.”

I have recorded seven CDs over the years, six of them having been recorded locally at our Bunnysmoke Records studio in Covelo. Our latest is called “Blackberry Wine,” available at wwwcdbaby.com. You can also purchase them in Covelo at the M&M Feed store and at June Marie’s. We will have them at the gig, too. Hope to see you there.
