Sanctuary Forest invites you to join BLM Interpretive Specialist Rachel Sowards Thompson on a hike to King Peak (elev. 4,088 feet), to watch the sun set and the full moon rise, on Friday, September 4. Rachel is an enthusiastic hike leader and will guide us up the steep trail, through Douglas fir forests burned by the 2003 Honeydew fire. At King Peak hikers have an unobstructed view of a full moon rising in the east while the sun sets over the ocean to the west. This hike is considered to be strenuous. Hikers will meet at BLM Whitethorn Office at 4 p.m. for this 6-hour event, which is free of charge. NOTE: It will take approximately one hour to drive from meeting point to trailhead. Donations are gladly accepted. To sign up, call 986-1087 ext 5#. For a complete list of hikes visit sanctuaryforest.org.
