Reggae superstars Alpha Blondy and The Solar System will give their first ever Mateel Community Center performance on Friday, August 28. Originally hailing from the Ivory Coast of West Africa and now based in Paris, France, Alpha Blondy and his enormous 12-piece ensemble offer one of the most dynamic live performances in reggae. Calling himself an African Rasta, Alpha Blondy creates anthems of morality, love, peace, and social consciousness sung in French, English, and Hebrew. He recorded his first album with Solar System in 1984 and they continue to be one of the top touring acts in the world today.
