The Campaign Against Marijuana Planting (CAMP), which has been around since the early 1980s, has begun its annual effort to eradicate marijuana growing in Humboldt County.
According to a press release from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, the CAMP agents eradicated 28,400 marijuana plants from outdoor gardens during its first four days of operation.
On Monday, CAMP eradicated 13,000 plants from tribal land and timber company land in the Hoopa Valley. On Tuesday, they eradicated 1,000 plants from U.S. Forest Service property near Orleans. On Wednesday they eradicated 8,200 plants from State Parks land and timber company land near Pepperwood. On the fourth day of their efforts, they eradicated 6,200 plants from timber company property near Blocksburg.
CAMP teams are made up of personnel from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S. Marshall’s Service and the Drug Task Force.
